Pucci Painting & Refinishing
The Pucci Monthly · November 2026

Ready when they knock.

The front door, entry, dining room and powder room: small projects guests notice first.

Recent Pucci project, indoor

November in the valleys gets quieter. Harvest is in, the fog sits low in the mornings, and the house starts filling with plans: who is coming, where everyone will sit, what they will see first. That last question is the useful one. Guests rarely take in the whole house. They notice the front door, the entry, the dining room and the powder room.

Those four spaces are small, and that is the point. A front door refinished in a deep, even color. Entry walls and baseboards cleaned up where shoes and bags have scuffed them. A dining room that reads warm and clean under the chandelier. A powder room that can carry a bolder color than you would risk anywhere else. Each is a short project, not a season.

We work around the household. Rooms are closed off, floors and furniture are covered, and we clean up every evening so the kitchen and hallways stay usable. If you are hosting this year, this is a good month to talk through what would matter most, so the work is finished and fully cured well before anyone rings the bell.

Three things to check before the guests arrive
  1. Look at the front door in daylight

Stand at the walk and look at the door the way a guest will. South and west facing doors fade and chalk first. Check the bottom rail and the edges around the hardware, where finish wears through soonest.

  2. Run a hand along the entry trim

Baseboards, door casings and stair skirts take the most traffic. Look for scuffs, chipped corners and caulk that has pulled away at the joints. These are quick fixes that change how the whole entry feels.

  3. Turn on every light in the powder room

Small rooms show everything under bright bulbs. Check the wall behind the faucet, the paint around the towel ring and mirror, and the ceiling corners. Uneven sheen and touch-up patches show up fast here.
